Hi Emma,

I love Notebook magazine and I too read this article with interest. It is extremely ironic to hear people talk about what they don't have and compare it to what they do have and this was made very clear to me when I lived in South America for a year. Although people were struggling to have food on the table and even a well built house, somehow they were able to have cable TV!

Last year when we were preparing for the floods in Mackay, I ensured that my pets and family were safe and that my photo collection was dry. Taking a step back and looking at all my possessions I realised that if by chance we were flooded and these were damaged, I would live. Material possessions can (generally) be replaced but life and old photos cannot.

Best wishes,
Kirsty
